The product you use for washing your hair, has strong influence on its look. Poorly chosen shampoo can cause a lot of damage not only to the hair but also to our scalp. Cosmetic producers are constantly trying to fool us, describing the unimaginable effects we will gain after buying their products. In fact, the main task of a shampoo is to thoroughly wash the scalp. This is the main criterion that should taken into consideration when choosing your shampoo.
Have a look at the list presenting types of shampoos to choose from.
1. Gentle shampoos – the best choice for people with sensitive scalp. Such products contain less surface active substances. Its components are mild. They usually lack of synthetics and detergents. If you suffer from a sensitive scalp try out an eco-friendly shampoo or simply a baby shampoo.
2. Cleansing shampoos– these contain bigger amounts of detergents. Their task is to thoroughly cleanse and degrease the scalp. That is why they are most suitable for oily hair type. It is worth remembering to check whether they contain silicones or other comedogenic substances which unfortunately, do not prolong hair freshness.
3. Silicone shampoos – this kind is especially recommended for damaged and thin hair. Other shampoos could simply tangle and consequently intensify breakage. In fact, silicones condition, smooth and improve the process of brushing your hair.
4. Anti-dandruff shampoos– are aimed at combating this particular problem. Keep in mind that they can often dry out your hair. Therefore, if you suffer from a mild form of dandruff, you should not use it every day. Additionally, you may support your hair by using a moisturising conditioner.
5. Anti-hair loss shampoos – the most effective ones are available in pharmacies. It is recommended to leave it on the scalp for a few minutes to allow the active ingredients work better. Herbal shampoos are ideal for fragile and falling out hair. Although they are a useful complement to the whole therapy, they will not defeat the problem of hair loss on their own. In this case, we better turn to proper natural oils (for example, Castor oil or Amla)
6. Shampoos for brunettes/blondes – are rich in dyes to enhance the hair colour. Usually, they contain natural substances, for example Henna. Women with blonde hair are in a slightly worse position because most shampoos contain artificial dyes and can dry the hair. Make sure to look for shampoos with chamomile extracts.
7. Shampoo bars – are a lot more efficient than regular shampoos. They cleanse the hair better and improve the volume. Be cautious because sometimes, they may even gently stiffen your hair. They will work well on hair with a tendency to oil.
8. Cleansing conditioners. Be aware of the fact that not every single type of conditioner will be suitable for washing your hair. You have to take a closer look at the components. Check whether the product contains a high concentration of surface active substances for example: Behentrimonium Chloride, Benzalkonium Chloride, Cetrimonium Chloride, Tricetyldimonium Chloride. It is worth remembering that the conditioner cannot consist of paraffin and silicones. It is mostly recommended for curly hair because a conditioner will prevent it from tangling. Moreover, if you wish to wash your hair with a conditioner, go ahead and try out this method.
